All About Bowling Equipment
Before going out and buying bowling equipment, you should bowl a few times first to make sure that you even like it. There's no reason to buy all the gear and then go bowling and find out you don't like it at all.
If you are going to buy your own gear you should buy a ball that is custom fitted to your hand. If you buy a ball at a place that specializes in bowling, they should be able to custom fit the ball perfectly to your hand. When choosing a ball, pick one that isn't too heavy for you. The rule of thumb is: 1 pound of ball for every 10 pounds of human (for example I weigh 122 lbs. so I would have a 12 pound ball).
If you are going to bowl a lot, you should probably buy your own shoes. Having your own shoes will provide you with stability. When you rent, you never know how the shoes you get will fit, or if they will hurt your feet. Try to wear clothes that allow you to move freely. You shouldn't feel restricted while you are bowling.
Remember the heavier the ball you get, the better it will knock down the pins. However, the heavier the ball, the harder it will be for you to throw or run. If the ball is too heavy for you, you won't be able to get a good roll out of it.
