Farm Equipment
It requires a significant amount of equipment to originate a farm. Rather the farm is small or large, special equipment is required and needed in order to have a successful farm; not to mention, it makes the work load related to farming easier for the farmer and workers. According to recent studies, each farmer in the United States produces food annually for more than 140 people. This is a drastic difference from the mid 1900's; during this time, farmers in the United States, only produced enough food for 20-30 people. Studies have also shown that, in the mid 1930's the number of farms in the United States rounded out close to 7 million. As of today, the number has seemed to decrease to less than 2.5 million. Nevertheless, there may be fewer farmers, but it seems to be more productivity. The results may be due to the changes in society and technology.
Years ago, before improvement of modern technology, farmers relied on animals and several workers, to perform the labor involved with farming. Today, there are hundreds of major and minor equipments and appliances to handle these tasks. Not only does it requires intensive labor to run a farm, but also, requires quite a bit of money. Most of the equipment involved with farming cost above 50,000.00, such as:
- The cost of Tractors seems to cost more than $200,000.00 new, depending on brand and year.
- The cost of a Cotton Picker will be more than $150,000.00 new, also depending on brand and year.
- The cost of a Seeder may cost you more than $3,000.00 new, as well, depending on brand and year.
These costly items are just a few of the items you may see located on a farm. Nonetheless, the cost of these items may be mind-boggling, but the convenience they provide makes it worth the price. Farmers would have to put in several times the man power, to get the results of these expensive, yet convenient machineries.
